Don Nice is nationally renowned as a pop realist painter. In
the words of the Italian art critic Achille Bonita Oliva, "for the
trans-international avant-garde artist [read postmodernist], creating
art signifies having everything on the table in a synchronic and
revolving omnipresence which pours into the melting pot of the
artwork's private and mythical images, personal signs linked with
individual history, and public signs linked with the history of
art and culture."
A superb watercolorist, Don Nice created
monoprints and a lithograph at Tandem Press. A major
retrospective of his work was also held at the Fine Art
Museums of Long Island in 1985.
